LETTERS FROM EVERS' KILLER SELL FOR $8,125

Letters written by the killer of civil rights leader Medgar Evers, including one praising the assassination of President Kennedy, have been sold at auction for $8,125.

The person who Wednesday bought the 200 letters written by Byron De La Beckwith asked not to be identified, said James W. Waechter, a spokesman for R.M. Smythe & Co. Inc., which sold the letters.Beckwith, convicted of murdering Evers last year and now serving a life sentence, wrote the letters from 1963 to 1976.
