Bones uncovered Thursday by a construction crew may be from the pioneer era, investigators say.

A construction crew was excavating for a basement in the area of 12000 South between 800 and 1000 East about 2 p.m. when they came across the skeletal remains, Salt Lake County sheriff's spokesman Rod Norton said. The bones were turned over to the state medical examiner's office.

It appears they are likely the remains of an adult male buried "many decades ago," Norton said.
