FORMER TOOELE PRINCIPAL PLEADS GUILTY TO 4 FELONIES

Former Grants-ville High School Principal C. Randall Houk pleaded guilty to four third-degree felony charges in 3rd District Court Thursday.

Houk's plea was part of a bargain with prosecutors, who agreed to drop the remaining 34 charges Houk faced.The former principal was accused of using school funds to purchase building and landscaping materials for his home under the guise of improving the school's football field and constructing a ticket building-concession stand, according to court records.

He was charged with 16 counts of misusing public funds, one count of theft by deception and 17 counts of theft.

Third District Court Judge John Rokich set sentencing for June 1 at 9 a.m.
