Richard Thomas Houghton, age 60, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, passed away April 19, 1995 at his home after a courageous battle with a brain tumor.
Born March 31, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Thomas LaVar Houghton and Juliet Sperry. Married Janiel Hatt in Bountiful, Utah on June 14, 1956. A member of the LDS Church, Dick was employed at Kennecott Copper for 40 years. He loved fishing, hunting, camping and was a member of the Datus Archery Club for 32 years. He was an All-State Baseball Catcher for Bingham High School and a former resident of Copperton, Utah.Survivors: wife, Janiel, Sandy; daughters, Teri Ann Koren; husband, Patrick; Karen Ellsworth and husband, Rob, all Littleton, Colorado; son, Michael Thomas Houghton, wife, Kathleen, West Valley City; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Ashley, Christopher, Jessica, Kelsie; mother, Juliet Sperry Houghton, Salt Lake City; brother, William L. Houghton; sisters, Jean Miltenberger, Betty Pickering, all Salt Lake City; Ann Castillo, Albuquerque, New Mexico; nine nieces; 10 nephews. Preceded in death by twin grandsons, father, sister, Kathryn, fishing buddy, Bob Poulsen.
Funeral services Saturday, April 22, 1995, 2 p.m. in the Goff Mortuary Chapel, 8090 So. State,where friends may call Friday 6-8 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment, Mountain View Memorial Estates. The family extends a special thanks to Pat Kruger of Community Nursing Service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice or Community Nursing Service.
