Milton France Woolf, age 80, passed away April 18, 1995 with the same dignity as he conducted his life.
He was born July 31, 1914 to Milton H. and Iretta France Woolf. One of nine children, he grew up in Utah and Nevada and enjoyed traveling with his father. As a young man he drove an ice cream truck until World War II when he joined the Army Air Corps. Milt rose through the ranks to become a crew chief (Tech. Sgt.) on a C-47 with the 91st Troop Carrier Squadron. After serving eighteen months in the European Theater, he returned stateside.Milton married Virginia Watkins in Great Falls, Montana, October 19, 1946. Together they raised five children: Hollie, Christine, Cynthia, Clancy and James. Five years later Milt and his partner, George Bilanzich started A & E Generator Company. Milt dedicated 44 years to that business serving as its president. He thought of his shop and its employees as his second family and he was so proud of their loyalty in rebuilding the business after the 1993 fire burned much of the shop.
Milt wasn't an all-work kind of guy, he also had many outside interests. He loved to travel with his family, to hunt and fish, to work with wood and his model trains and also to read. He spent as much of the summer as he could at a cabin he had built with the help of his sons, in the Uinta's in 1972 where on cool summer evenings his family believes he read every novel ever written by Louis L'Amour.
Milt was a wonderful husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He had a warm and wonderful sense of humor, he was generous with his love and good fortune to a fault, and his physical presence will be missed, but not forgotten. He had been sick for the past two years, but through it all he persevered. He is at rest.
Milton is survived by his wife of 49 years; his daughters: Hollie Bruerton (Harry), Christine Woolf, Cynthia McIntyre (Jim); and son, James Woolf, all of Salt Lake City; son, Stewart Clancy Woolf, of San Jose, Calif.; his brother, John A. Woolf, Ariz.; and sisters, Mary Beck, of Ariz.; Helen Anderson, Alberta Rosenhan and Ruth Madsen, all of Salt Lake; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Earl W. Woolf and sisters, LeNore Woodland and Irene Hatch.
