CAPTION ONLY: HOLY WEEK FOR GREEK ORTHODOX COMMUNITY

The Rev. Dean Panagos leads youths carrying the cross in a Good Friday procession at Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church, 5335 S. Highland Drive. Utah's Greek Orthodox community celebrates Easter this weekend. The Eastern Orthodox Church calculates the date of Easter according to the decisions of the First Ecumenical Council of the Christian Church in 325 A.D. The Council of Nicea declared Easter must be celebrated on the Sunday following the first full moon of the vernal equinox and after the Jewish Passover. Holy Trinity Cathedral, 279 S. 300 West, and Prophet Elias will host services Saturday and Sunday.
