Alpine School District

In its meeting on Tuesday, April 25, the Alpine School Board will:

- Honor local individuals who have contributed to student success at Windsor Elementary School in Orem and give them "You Make a Difference" awards.

- Hear a presentation on the Alpine district's Spanish Immersion Program, in which third-grade students begin formal schooling in Spanish before resuming studies in English. Currently four Alpine elementary schools - Cherry Hill, Northridge and Windsor in Orem and Meadow in Lehi - have Spanish Immersion programs.

- Discuss preliminary information on the establishment of school boundaries for the $27 million high school under construction in Orem.

- Hold a public-address period for constituents to discuss their concerns.

The meeting is being held at Windsor Elementary, 1315 N. Main, Orem, and will start at 6 p.m.

The Orem City Council will meet Tuesday, April 25, to discuss:

- Revision of the sign ordinance regarding hospital overlay zones to allow larger free-standing signs along arterial and collector streets.

- A request from Keven Stratton to rezone property at 1345 East 800 North to allow a fly and tackle shop.

- A request from Trafalga Family Fun Center to amend its conditional use permit to allow conversion of the "bath house" building to a Carousel Ice Cream restaurant.

- Appeal by Regent Court Homeowners' Association over Planning Commission approval of Garn Phillips Turf Farm at 417 West 1165 North. Development Services recommends denying the appeal.

- A request for rezone of property at 125 East 1300 South to allow for expansion of the Rick Warner auto dealership.
