'93 PULITZER COMPOSER SITS IN CARNEGIE CHAIR

Ellen Taaffe Zwilich didn't have a hard time composing the words to her latest announcement. "I have moved heaven and earth to make sure my life revolves around composing," Zwilich said Monday in accepting the first composer's chair at Carnegie Hall. Zwilich was the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music, in 1993. She said she has turned down other "blue-ribbon" artist-in-residence opportunities, but Carnegie Hall feels like home.
