A Salt Lake man underwent emergency surgery Sunday to remove a bullet lodged near his heart.
Marco A. Fonseca, 20, was shot in the back about 12:30 a.m. Sunday as he rode in a car near 1100 S. Main.Witnesses said a carload of people pulled up to the car carrying Fonseca and his friends, rammed it from behind and then someone in it fired at least three bullets into Fonseca's car.
One of the bullets pierced the trunk, traveled through the back seat and into the man's back. He was listed in serious but stable condition Monday evening at University Hospital.
Police were are still searching for suspects in the shooting.
