New stamps continue to celebrate the Chinese New Year, and the latest is from Australia, which has a large Chinese population. Many of these families arrived in Australia during the "Gold Rush Days" in the past century.
In recent years their numbers have increased as a result of Asian immigration to the land Down Under. The Australian Post has issued two versions of a greeting card pack - one for mailing within the country, and the other for overseas mail. The packs include a card containing a lunar new year miniature sheet, an entry for a "Luck Money" drawing and a specially designed prepaid envelope. The entry coupon offers the winners a trip for two from Australia to Asia.
The stamp design on the miniature sheet includes a sketch of people celebrating the New Year plus a pig - 1995 being the Year of the Pig on the lunar calendar.
The stamps are available from your local stamp dealer.
