Vivian Gussen Paley, author of eight books about children that were written for children, will be the keynote speaker today at "Innovations in Education: Educating the Young Child," a three-day conference at Utah State University.

Paley, author of the book, "You Can't Say You Can't Play," will give a talk entitled, "My Mother and Mr. Lincoln Were Not at Risk," at 9:20 a.m. in the Walnut Room of the Taggart Student Center on the USU campus. As a longtime kindergarten teacher at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools, Paley believes that storytelling is vital to helping children learn.Paley will also participate in book signing today from 4:15-5:15 p.m. at the USU Bookstore. She will also present a talk, "On Becoming a Natural Born Storyteller," at the Parent Fair, Saturday, April 29, at 9:30 a.m. at the Edith Bowen Laboratory School on campus.
