Sparked by a solid second-half defensive effort from goalkeeper Matt Hamlin, Cedar City satisfied its hunger for a second region win by edging Pine View 2-1 in a shootout Friday night.
A first-half goal by Panther Chris Neal, who was assisted by Wess Draper, put the Redmen in an early hole before the half. Josh Carver then led the comeback with an assisted goal from Kevin Staudete.Hamlin, only a sophomore, kept third-ranked Pine View scoreless in regulation before going to the shootout. After the Panthers missed a costly third penalty kick, Cedar's Jon Smith clinched the win for the Redmen by hitting the mark.

At Clearfield, the Lancers stunned Clearfield with two goals by Brandon Peterson. Also scoring for the 7-3 Lancers were Jason Bullough and Mike Scheel.
Skyline 2, Bountiful 0
At Skyline, Phil Hansen led the Eagles with a first-half goal followed by Todd Bentzen's finisher in the second. Colin Chipman and Brandon Doman teammed for the goalkeeper shutout.
Viewmont 3, Davis 1
At Viewmont, Jason Roberts had two goals and Danny East connected for another as the Vikings climbed up to 10-2, 7-1 in region. Davis' only score was from a penalty kick.
Highland 3, Cottonwood 2
At Cottonwood, Mark Pulver hit a game-winner with seconds left to beat Cottonwood. Will Minerich and Jared Bradley scored goals for the Colts. Jorge Estrada had one for Highland, now 5-3 in region.
Kearns 3, Granger 2
At Granger, Eric Bertot had two goals with Jake Thompson hitting another as the Cougars posted their second region win. Golden Thompson had two assists for Kearns.
West Jordan 1, Hunter 0
At West Jordan, the Jaguars bounced back from Tuesday's loss as Mat Bateman scored on an assist from Jesse Buchanan. Tyler Lewellyn got the goalkeeper shutout for West Jordan, now 6-2 in region.
Bingham 1, Taylorsville 0
At Taylorsville, a first-half goal by James Dunn, who was assisted by Brian Hessing, did the job for the Miners in a win over T-Ville. Goalie Jeremy Johnson got his second shutout of the week.
Sky View 3, Mountain Crest 0
At Sky View, Nic Butler scored twice for the Bobcats (8-2) along with a single goal by Robbie Jones. Jacob Penrose and Ryan Bates each played a half at goalkeeper to shut out the 5-5 Mustangs.
Ogden 3, Box Elder 0
At Ogden, Dusty Fearing, Chris Langeveld and Charlie Gladwell all scored for 5-4 Ogden while keeper Ryan Bosley shut out the Bees. The loss dropped Box Elder to 5-5.
Ben Lomond 3, Bear River 1
At Ben Lomond, the Scots, now 6-4, bounced back into the region title race with goals from Carson West, Alan Hoskins and Travis Greenfield.
Jordan 3, Murray 2
At Jordan, the Beetdiggers picked up region win No. 3 with goals from Josh Hill, Mike Mills and Andy Fullmer.
Judge 3, Tooele 0
At Tooele, goalkeeper Luke Timmons silenced the Buffaloes while Ryan Stack fired off two goals for the Bulldogs. Matt Carson added another to clinch Judge's third region win.
Woods Cross 11, Cyprus 1
At Cyprus, Kyle Nordfors fired five goals along with two each from Lance Bradshaw and Terry Hammer. Wade Nielsen and Aaron Collett also scored for the Wilcats.

At East, the Leopards overcame West in a tough matchup with David Orem's single goal off an assist from Chris Lien. East keeper Danny Lear kept the Panthers from scoring.
Timpview 3, Pleasant Grove 0
At Timpview, Chris Chambers, Jon Winn and Chad Hofeins hit goals for the Thunderbirds as they impvoved to 11-1 overall. Goalkeeper Chris Seamons got his 10th season shutout.
Provo 3, Springville 1
At Springville, Shay Aslept nailed two goals with John Abeglen's single score to put away the Red Devils. Nathan Peterson scored the only goal for Springville.
Spanish Fork 3, Payson 2
At Spanish Fork, Spencer Ludlow and Nate Hughes both had a goal and an assist to push the Dons over the Lions. Also scoring for was Ric Gillie to move Spanish Fork up to 5-2 in region.
Delta 6, Hurricane 1
At Hurricane, Maney Lebbon fired two goals to lead the Rabbits over Hurricane. Hitting single goals for Delta were Adam Little, Will Bryan, Zack Panhorst and Kurt Carroll.
Dixie 3, Snow Canyon 2
At Dixie, Seth Klingonsmith fired two goals and Greg Lemmon hit a third to give the Flyers sole position of first in Region 9. Aaron Boyce and Curtis Whitehead had goals for the Warriors.

At Park City, the Trojans knocked off the fourth-ranked Miners for their first region win.
Wasatch Academy 5, RHSM 3
