U. 3RD, Y. 5TH AT WAC TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS

The University of Utah finished third and BYU fifth in the Western Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Championships that concluded Saturday at the University of New Mexico.

Utah defeated UTEP, 4-1, and placed Christian Svensson and Brian Conner on the All-WAC team.For BYU, Salt Lake City sophomore Kris Rosander won the decisive match at No. 6 singles with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Aaron Crawford to clinch the match for the Cougars.

BYU sophomore Boris Bosnjakovic was the only Cougar named to the All-WAC team.

BYU finished the year with a 10-11 dual record.

New Mexico won the team title for the fifth straight year with a 4-3 victory over Fresno State. The Lobos were led by player-of- the-year Tad Berkowitz, who scored a 6-4, 5-7, 7-5 win over WAC Newcomer of the Year, Fredrik Bergh.
