Nominations are in for the 1995 PEN/Faulkner Award, the largest annual juried prize for fiction in the United States.

The nominees are Frederick Busch for "The Children in the Woods: New and Selected Stories" (Ticknor & Fields); David Guterson for "Snow Falling on Cedars" (Harcourt Brace); Ursula Hegi for "Stones From the River" (Poseidon); Joyce Carol Oates for "What I Lived For" (William Abraham/Dutton/William), and Joanna Scott for "Various Antidotes: Stories" (Henry Holt).The winner of the prestigious award, to be announced next month, will receive $15,000. The other nominees are each given $5,000.

Wednesday Guterson is also to receive the Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers Award for "Snow Falling on Cedars," his first novel. - Mary B.W. Tabor
