When Region 7 softball rivals West and Cyprus met on the field Tuesday afternoon, it appeared that fans might enjoy a slugfest between two high-scoring teams.

Just the opposite occurred though, as Panther pitcher Natalie Young threw a six-inning no-hitter to give West a 1-0 victory over the Pirates and remain the top team in region play.Young aided her cause by driving in the only run of the game with a two-out single in the first inning that gave West (3-0) the early lead.

The senior got out of a jam in the second inning and then put down 12-consecutive Cyprus batters to secure the no-hitter.
