Two seminars on pruning lead off the Saturday morning series of gardening workshops at the USU/Utah Botanical Gardens at U.S. 89 and Main Street in Farmington. The free seminars continue through October.

Saturday's seminars include rose pruning and care, led by Sue Murphy, at 9 a.m. and fruit pruning at 10:30 a.m.Other topics scheduled include basic vegetable gardening, April 22; a hanging basket workshop on May 6; composting for beginners on May 20; basic landscape considerations on June 3; lawn care and watering on June 17; annual flowers, July 8; perennial flowers, July 15; trees and shrubs, July 29; and gardening with children, Aug. 12.

The annual Labor Day open house will be Sept. 2, followed by bulbs and fall perennials Sept. 16. The series wraps up with a workshop on winterizing a yard Oct. 14. For more information on the series call the Botanical Gardens at 451-3204.
