NEW CHARGES DELAY BID FOR PLEA BARGAIN

A Salt Lake man's plea bargain to five forgery charges in 2nd District Court was delayed Tuesday when new charges were filed in Box Elder County alleging more instances of forged money orders.

Larry B. Dietz, 47, is charged with using a check-writing machine to alter money orders from the original $5 purchase price to up to $100. He used them for small purchases at ice cream shops and pizza restaurants, getting cash back as change, according to court records.Dietz appeared in court Tuesday and a plea bargain had been worked out, according to attorneys involved in the case. But prosecutors in Box Elder County filed a new charge this week and said two other charges are pending, according to court officials.
