Bronze monument by German artist Fritz Cremer depicts liberated camp inmates atop Ettersberg Hill near the German city of Weimar, close to the former Nazi concentration camp of Buchenwald. The monument commemorates 50th anniversary of camp's liberation by U.S. troops on April 11, 1945. Survivors and veterans will gather this weekend. Buchenwald was the first concentration camp encountered by American troops during World War II.
