Melba Cox Ashton, 93, passed away April 8, 1995. Her life will live on in the loving memories we share.

Born July 15, 1901 in Salt Lake City to Edward Carmen and Elizabeth Handley Cox. Melba attended Forest and East High School and graduated from Henager Business School. She worked at the Red Cross, Salt Lake Telephone Co. and Deseret News prior to her marriage. She married George Rodney Ashton June 1, 1921 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Worked at Camp Kearns until the end of World War II, then worked at several automobile dealerships until her retirement. She was an avid rose gardener. She and Rodney loved to travel and be with their family.Survived by daughters, Maxine (Robert J.) Larsen, Salt Lake; Mary Ann (Jerry A.) Gilbert, South Jordan; son, Jed (Diane) Ashton, Sandy; daughter-in-law, Gloria Evershed, Salt Lake; 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, son, Wes Ashton, sister, Dorothy Simons.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 1995 at 11 a.m. at Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Dr. Friends may call on Tuesday 6-7 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the mortuary. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery. Funeral directors, Cottonwood Mortuary.
