With rain and hail starting to come down, players, coaches and the grounds crew cover Franklin Quest Field in Salt Lake City during a baseball game Tuesday afternoon between Murray and Pleasant Grove. An upper-level low-pressure front over central Arizona pumped moisture across Utah Tuesday afternoon and evening. Showers and thunderstorms were widespread across the state, and hail measuring up to 1 inch in diameter was reported around 3 p.m. at the University of Utah. Wind gusts of up to 78 mph accompanied a thunderstorm in north Orem. The Olympus Cove area reported gusts near 60 mph.
