SHARE ACADEMY OFFERING 3 DAYS OF MARTIAL ARTS ACTIVITIES

A three-day martial-arts event is scheduled Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 19-21, at U.S. Blackbelt Academy, 4095 W. 4715 South, to raise scholarship money.

The event, organized by international karate champion Mike Stidham, will raise money to offer a scholarship for instruction on Karate Shin-Toshi to children who would not otherwise be able to do so. The recipient will be required to maintain a 3.0 grade point average in school as well as an equivalent level of performance in his or her karate training.The event on Friday night will feature a martial arts seminar taught by Master Mickey Fisher from Dallas, Texas. Saturday, a karate tournament and full-contact kickboxing fights will be held, and the weekend will be concluded with a black belt exam featuring 10 of Utah's top competitors vying for black belt or higher rankings. The charge for each event is $5.
