NFL champion quarterback Steve Young will be the keynote speaker at the Tourism Appreciation Week Luncheon on Tuesday, May 23, at noon at the Red Lion Hotel. He will discuss misconceptions about Utah that he has heard during his travels and also will talk about Utah's unique appeal as a tourist destination.
Also attending will be Thomas and Kathleen Fare and their 9-year-old son, Tommy, a family from Buffalo, New York, who have never been west of Pittsburgh. They won a free Utah vacation after daughter Bridget Fare, who recently moved here, wrote the winning essay in a contest last March on "Why I Want My Friends or Relatives to Visit Me in Utah."State statistics show that the number of annual visitors to Utah equals more than nine times the state's population (15 million).
