WHICH IS BETTER: HATE OR SERVICE?

SHARE WHICH IS BETTER: HATE OR SERVICE?

There is an old saying: "If the peasants have a problem, they blame the king."

Today, if we have a problem, we blame the government. The difference is that today we have our freedom. When the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, the American public was enraged against Japan. With the bombing in Oklahoma, many of us are enraged and shocked. But not all. Why not?

There are organizations that propose taking violent action against the government with the terrible crime of killing innocent people with acts of violence. Others gave their time, talent and money to try to soften the grief felt by the victims and their loved ones.

There are many good causes on which we can spend our thought and energy. Most cities and counties have programs where we can offer our time and talents to help others. This benefits others and, in the last analysis, ourselves.

Which course of action will build a safer and more pleasant nation and communities for ourselves and our children to live in, the one of hate and violence or that of compassion and service?
