SHARE DAVIS STUDENT TAKES 1ST IN TAR WARS POSTER CONTEST

Wasatch Elementary School student Elizabeth Davenport took first place in the Davis County School District and Health Department's annual Tar Wars poster contest.

Students in the contest create posters focusing on reasons not to use tobacco. The first place poster from the county goes on to compete in a statewide contest.In Davis, 2,145 fifth-grade students from 23 schools competed.

Second place went to Dianna Sundbeck, Washington Elementary, and third-place winner is Jana McDermott, West Point Elementary. Honorable mentions went to Keara Burke of Muir Elementary and Jondavid Younger of Vae View Elementary.

Individual school winners include Jordan Reed, Adelaide; Jami Grove, Boulton; Emily Hatch, Columbia; Tricia Ger-rard, Doxey; Rachel Prince, Farmington; Brooke Duncan, Fremont; Chloe Sagstetter, Hill Field; Jonny Darrohn, Monte Vista; Jake Stapp, Morgan; Ashley Hinds and Heidi Tucker, Sunset; Lisa Rose, Syracuse; and Sarah Carpenter, Taylor.
