The American Medical Association says exercise to help prevent heart disease need not be limited to regimented gym workouts or jogging. The AMA suggests accumulating 30 minutes of daily exercise by:
- Walking up stairs instead of using an elevator.- Taking a stroll at lunch.
- Peddling a stationary bike while watching the news.
- Raking leaves, gardening, vacuuming and dancing.
Those who perform lower-intensity activities should do them more often or for longer periods than higher-intensity activities.
