A faulty electrical cord is probably to blame for a Thursday house fire that caused almost $50,000 damage. There were no injuries.
Fire crews responded to the home at 75 E. Hampton Ave. (1135 South) about 4 p.m. after neighbors spotted smoke coming from the attic."We happened to have some of our people in that area when the call came, so we were able to make a good, quick attack," said Salt Lake City Fire Capt. Chris Garcia. "It appears the fire was started down in the living area by an electrical problem. It's not being considered suspicous."
Residents were not home at the time of the blaze, said Garcia.
