Jerry Lewis, Hernando Hennings and Bobby Smith show off their catch from Jordanelle State Park, which opened its reservoir waters at 7 a.m. Friday and saw a run of thousand of anglers on the lake. Friday's opening created some traffic-congestion problems in the area, however, prompting the Utah Highway Patrol to warn Jordanelle visitors to heed a Utah law that prohibits parking along U.S. 40, the highway that accesses the Hailstone area of the park. The Utah Highway Patrol issued numerous tickets on Friday to motorists who were illegally parked along the busy thoroughfare, and troopers issued an advisory encouraging drivers to take the Mayflower exit to plentiful parking at Hailstone or to access the lake at the Rockcliff area on U-32 between Heber City and Francis.
