Juab School District has settled contract negotiations for the 1995-96 school year with the certified staff.

The certified team negotiated for a 4 percent compensation package, and the board approved the request of the negotiation team.In addition, the board agreed to a revised personal leave/sick leave policy.

Leon Pexton, board president, said the team began meeting together last April, and one item of concern to the staff was the confusing system for dealing with sick leave.

This coming school year staff members will receive eight sick leave days per year, which can be accumulated to 180 days, he said. Certified staff will receive three personal leave days, which can be accumulated to six.

Extra days could be sold back to the district rather than accumulating. If a day is sold back to the district, the staff member would get $37.50 for the price of a certified substitute.

Money for the 4 percent compensation package, said Pexton, will come from the savings in changing health insurance providers. It is projected the district will save more than $87,000 next year.
