OEC Medical Systems Inc., a company manufacturing medical imaging systems and accessories, had net income of $2.8 million or 22 cents per share in the quarter ending June 30, compared with net income of $344,000 or three cents per share in the same period a year ago.
Ruediger Naumann-Etienne, OEC chairman, president and chief executive officer, said the increase in net income was the result of the second quarter a year ago being low because of delays in shipment of the company's new series of mobile digital imaging systems. In the six months ending June 30, OEC, located at 384 Wright Brothers Drive, had net income of $5.3 million or 42 cents per share compared with net income of $2.6 million or 21 cents per share in the same period a year ago.
Naumann-Etienne said OEC's recent acquisition of 19.8 percent of a German-based X-ray imaging manufacturer and the accompanying introduction of a compact mobile digital imaging system will enhance OEC's international market image.
