Photojournalist D. Michael Cheers has donated his "Songs of My People" collection, more than 150 photographs depicting black Americans, to the University of Missouri's Museum of Art and Archaeology, the university announced recently.

Cheers co-directed the notable project in which 50 black photojournalists traveled the country, from Wall Street to cotton fields, taking black-and-white photos of black Americans.
