Robert Lance Ballard, 19, died Sunday, August 6, 1995 in Little Cottonwood Canyon, from injuries sustained in a rock climbing accident.

He was born September 21, 1975 in Oxnard, California, son of Linda Kaye McDaniel and Steven Edward Ballard. He was raised in Logan, then moved to Salt Lake City in 1992. He attended high school in Bear Lake, Idaho, where he was active in football and wrestling.He is survived by his mother, Salt Lake City; father, Medford, Oregon; son, Robert Lance Ballard, II, Missoula, Montana; one brother; four sisters; grandparents, Ann Flanigan, Phoenix, Arizona; Reily S. Flanigan, Fillmore, California; Adrian Ballard and Bonnie Stockton, Medford, Oregon. On his mother's side, surviving are uncles, Hal McDaniel, Napa, California; Samuel Flanigan, Phoenix, Arizona; aunt, Annette McDaniel, Lompoc, California. On his father's side, numerous uncles; aunts; nieces and nephews, JaNae Colvard, Christopher Martin, Jessica Perry, Derek Liebes and Dennis Anthony Nash. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rhonda Colvard in 1992 and a brother, Dennis Nash in 1990.

Friends and family are invited to gather Friday, 4 p.m. for a memorial service to be held at the home of Gina and David Dutton, 1373 West Pacific Avenue (between 4th and 5th South). His mother can be reached at 537-7367. Viewing and cremation services were held earlier.

Lantz is loved very much and will be missed.
