A WOMAN'S PLACE BOOKSTORE in Foothill Village has scheduled a literary week. At 2 p.m. today Paula Huston will read from her book "Daughters of Song." (See accompanying story). At 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, Margaret Rostkowski will read and sign her new young adult novel "Moon Dancer." At 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, Emma Lou Thayne, Sharon Bryan and Bill and Helen Mulder will offer a tribute to poet Clarice Short. Then on Thursday, Aug. 17, at 7 p.m., Linda Hogan will read and sign her book "Dwellings."

She will sign copies of her books from 1-4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at Temple View Book & Tape in Bountiful. Her seminars will run Aug. 17 and 18 in Centerville and Aug. 19 in Provo. - BARNES & NOBLE will bring two new stores to the Salt Lake area. The chain will open a store on Friday, Aug. 18, at 7119 S. 1300 East in Midvale, then another store on Sept. 1 at 612 E. 400 South, near Trolley Square. Both stores will feature a cafe and a computer software department.

- FRANCES TEMPLE, author of "Taste of Salt: A Story of Modern Haiti," "The Bedouin's Gazelle" and several other books for children and young adults, has passed away at age 50. Temple won many awards, including the Jane Addams Children's Book Award.
