David Cannon fired a final-round four-under 66 Saturday to capture the UGA Mid-Amateur Championship at the Eaglewood Golf Course.

Cannon, a Salt Lake dentist, finished with a two-stroke margin over defending champion Ken Cromwell and Scott Fairbanks.With the win, Cannon earned a spot on the Utah team for the Shootout against Arizona in September at Willow Creek Country Club.

Cannon ended the tournament at four under par with a score of 70-66-136. Cromwell shot rounds of 70 and 68, while Fairbanks carded rounds of 71 and 67.

The UGA Mid-Am is for players 25 and over, with a concurrent competition - a Masters Division - for Mid-Am participants 45 and over. For the second straight year, the Masters champion was also the Mid-Am champ - Cannon is 45 years old and won both titles, as did Cromwell last year.
