L.A. OFFICERS DIDN'T VIOLATE `STAR TREK' ACTOR'S RIGHTS

A federal jury has rejected claims by actor Joseph Brance of TV's "Star Trek: The Next Generation" that two Los Angeles police officers violated his civil rights by assaulting him in a parking garage two years ago.

Jurors deliberated two hours Friday before finding that the officers were not liable in the civil suit filed by Brance.Brance, whose real name is Joseph Baumann, played security officer Garvey on the "Star Trek" spinoff.

The actor said the officers, without justification, grabbed his arms and threw him to the ground in May 1993 in his apartment building's parking garage.
