A South Central City man is accused of slaying his live-in girlfriend following an argument
Saturday at a downtown bar.Craig West Frederickson, 1716 S. Main, was charged last week with murder, a first-degree felony, for fatally shooting Debra Clifford, according to a 3rd Circuit Court complaint.
The couple reportedly began arguing Saturday evening at Willie's Lounge & Pool, 1716 S. Main. Clifford, 41, then left the bar and walked to their nearby apartment, the complaint states.
Frederickson followed his girlfriend and discovered she had tossed some furniture through the apartment window. The fight continued inside and Clifford said she was "despondent" over her husband's death several years ago and "wanted to be with him," according to the complaint.
Frederickson then allegedly pulled a handgun from his pocket, placed it on Clifford's head and fired one round. Following the shooting, Frederickson returned to the lounge and told a bartender he had "just shot Debbie," the complaint said.
The suspect later surrendered to police without incident. Investigators confiscated a .38-caliber revolver at the home.
Frederickson remains in the Salt Lake County Jail on $100,000 bail.
