PROVO FIREFIGHTERS PUT OUT FIRE IN A BIG CREOSOTE TANK

Firefighters Thursday morning extinguished a blaze that broke out in a 35,000-gallon creosote tank at a Provo chemical manu-fac-turer.

Shortly before 9 a.m., Provo fire crews were called to Reilly Industries Inc., 2555 S. Industrial Parkway.Springville fire crews, as well as the Utah County Sheriff's HASMAT Team, also responded to the scene. Crews used short blasts of water to extinguish the few small flames that had erupted from the heated tank and continued efforts to smother smoke that was visible a few miles away.

Sheriff's officers were not forced to evacuate the business or any other nearby businesses, and no injuries were reported as a result of the fire. Investigators believe the tank may have overheated.
