The ProVoce Chorale, under the direction of Eric Jones, holds auditions through the month of August and the first two weeks of September.
The chorale is largely made up of members of the former Woodward Chorale. When conductor Ralph Woodward re-tired in the spring of 1994, the ProVoce Chorale was formed. The chorale sings a varied repertoire from major choral works, such as the baroque-styled Handel's "Messiah" performed last Christmas with full orchestra and soloists. Performances are two to three times a year.
Chorale rehearsals are every Tuesday at 7 p.m. from September through April. The chorale currently has 40 singers and would like to enlarge the group to 60.
Previous choir experience, vocal lessons and/or ability to read music would be helpful.
Auditions will be held by appointment. Call 225-3531 and leave a message.
