INDIAN AFFAIRS, SBA TO OFFER ACCESS, TRAINING

The Small Business Administration and the Bureau of Indian Affairs have created a new part-ner-ship to provide local access to business development resources, training, counseling and support to American Indians living on or near reservations. This demonstration project will involve 17 tribes in various states, including the Navajo Nation.

The SBA, with funding from the BIA, will establish tribal business information centers that will offer on-site business development resources and technology, financial and technical assistance and management training. The centers will contain computer technology, business reference libraries and management videos, and also will offer such things as one-on-one counseling for entrepreneurs.
