W.V. WOMAN SERIOUS AFTER PICKUP HITS CAR

A West Valley woman was in serious condition at LDS Hospital Thursday following an accident Wednesday on I-15 in Orem.

Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Tracy Simmons said Janice F. Gilson, 46, was probably on her way to Education Week at Brigham Young University Wednesday when she apparently didn't notice backlogged traffic ahead of her in the far righthand lane. Witnesses said she swerved left into oncoming cars and was struck from behind by a pickup truck.Simmons said the accident happened in the southbound lane between the Orem Center Street and 1300 South exits on I-15 at about 7:45 a.m. Gilson, who was driving a 1984 Chevy Celebrity station wagon, hit her head during the collision and was transported to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center for injuries related to head trauma. She was then transported to LDS Hospital.
