Lots of fun, prizes and adventure are planned during Arctic Circle and Pepsi's "Zoo Day" Saturday, Aug. 26, at Hogle Zoo, zoo officials say.

The first 500 children to enter the zoo that day will receive free Power Rangers photos and sport bottles. Princess Alice, the zoo's costumed mascot, will pose for free pictures with children from 10 a.m. to noon.A cartoon artist and face painter will create free works of art for visitors from 10 a.m. to noon.

The "World of Flight" bird show, which features 35 free-flying birds from throughout the world, is scheduled at 1 and 3 p.m. A drawing for prizes will take place at 3:30 p.m.; winners need not be present to win.

Zoo polar bears Chinook and Andy will receive an early taste of winter when 300-pound blocks of ice are dropped into the pool in their exhibit at 2 p.m.
