Waylon Jennings last played the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa, in 1959 - the night Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. "Big Bopper" Richardson died in an airplane crash.
After 36 years, the country music legend has agreed to go back Oct. 6. Tickets for the concert are $22.Jennings played bass with Holly at the Surf during the rocker's last concert.
Holly's widow, Maria Elena Holly, who lives in Texas, said she could understand if Jennings avoided the Surf.
"I know Buddy loved Waylon, but I've never talked to Waylon about going back to the Surf. Waylon is really a very nice person and maybe there was just too much hurt for him to want to go back," she said.
