Michael Rodney Smith, age 46, died August 27, 1995 at a Roosevelt hospital of a heart attack.
He was born May 13, 1949 in Salt Lake City to Jack Bernard and Stella Lydia Rodriguez Smith. Married Olga Rivera in California.Michael enjoyed life and was a big practical joker. He loved hunting and riding his Harley. He collected guns and baseball cards and enjoyed trading with people. He worked for Pennzoil many years; lately he had gone back to school and had bought a few cattle that he was raising, which brought him a lot of enjoyment. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam war.
He is survived by his wife of Roosevelt; daughters and son, Cassie Austin, Michael R. Smith, Jr., and Nicole Hyder, all of Roosevelt; six grandchildren; his mother, Stella Burbidge and stepfather, Joseph D. Burbidge of Salt Lake; brothers and sisters, Dennis Smith, Kevin Burbidge, Kim Bowden, all of Salt Lake; and Dori Dixon, Helper.
Visitation and brief service will be held Wednesday, from 7-9 p.m. at Hullinger-Olpin Mortuary. He finally found his dreams, happiness and peace.
