The Tabernacle Choir left from the Salt Lake International Airport Thursday for Washington, D.C., where it will be part of major events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II. After performing twice in Washington, the choir will perform twice more in New York City.
On Friday and Saturday, the choir will present premiere performances of "An American Requiem," a musical work honoring those who have served their country, often at great sacrifice. The performances will be in the John F. Kennedy Center.The choir's weekly Sunday program, "Music and the Spoken Word," will also originate from the Kennedy Center.
In New York City, the choir will perform at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine on Tuesday and Wednesday.
