Hip fractures pose a serious health risk, especially for older women, according to the Arthritis Foundation.
To help reduce hip fractures, the foundation recommends these steps:- Walk for exercise (this alone can reduce the risk of fracture by 30 percent).
- Reduce caffeine intake.
- Have your vision checked.
- Maintain a healthy body weight.
- Do not smoke.
The foundation also notes a doctor can assess the overall risk for hip fractures with an interview and a simple physical examination.
