A Salt Lake area man was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated robbery and murder over his alleged role in a June robbery attempt that ended in gunfire, court documents show.
Carlos R. Gomez, 18, was 17 at the time he was with Armando Molina, 18, when Molina apparently shot four people in the Valparaizo Cafe, 175 S. 900 West, on June 29 about 11:40 p.m., the documents said. Joel Flores died from wounds sustained in the incident. Flores' wife, Belen, and two other employees survived their injuries.Gomez's apparent role was to get the money from another man behind the cafe, the report said. After the man said he didn't have any money, Molina and Gomez forced the man into the cafe and held it up.
Molina was charged with the crimes in July. Bail was set for Gomez at $150,000.
