The Women's Bureau of the U.S. Department of Labor will begin the "Working Women Count Honor Roll" on Labor Day, Sept. 4, to inspire businesses to make employment situations better for women. It will encourage new policies and programs that a 1994 bureau survey said women care about most: improving pay and benefits, building a family friendly workplace and valuing women's work through training and advancement.

The honor roll will gather pledges from businesses, community organizations, governments and labor unions to explore such things as on-site child care, personal leave time, flexible work schedules and training for job advancement. To obtain information, call 1-800-827-5335.
