Rellis Van Petty, age 80, passed away peacefully August 27, 1995, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born September 13, 1914 in Emery, Utah to William Arthur Petty and Ada Amelia Williams Petty. He married Julia Hunt on June 15, 1936. They were happily married 59 years.He lived in California for 30 years, and returned to Utah in 1972. He worked as a building inspector in California and Utah. He found many ways throughout his life to show love to his Heavenly Father, serving faithfully as a branch president, High Priest leader, stake missionary and temple preparation instructor. He has worked in the Los Angeles, Salt Lake and Jordan River Temples, where he performed over 11/2 million sealings. Rellis was always excited to share the gospel to all who would listen, and was able to share in the joy of many baptisms and conversions throughout his life. He was an usher for General Conference for over 40 years. He touched many lives with love and will be greatly missed.

Survived by his wife, two sons, Richard Van Petty (Karen), West Valley; Ronald J. Petty (Carolyn), Sun Valley, California; two daughters, Brenda Lynn DeStefano (Robert), Valencia, California; Susan Louise Johnson (David) Magna; 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Septemgber 1st, in the River 6th Ward Chapel, 7350 So. 1300 West, W. Jordan, Utah. Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 So. Redwood Rd. and Friday one hour prior to services at the ward chapel. Interment: West Jordan Cemetery, W. Jordan, Utah.
