CAROL HINCKLEY CANNON, CHURCH WORKER, DIES

Carol Hinckley Cannon, 93, former secretary of the LDS Church Correlation Committee and sister of LDS Church President Gordon B. Hinckley, died Aug. 27, 1995, at South Davis Community Hospital in Bountiful.

A graduate of Brigham Young Academy and recipient of the Brigham Young University Emeritus Club Special Recogniton Award, Mrs. Cannon was born Jan. 23, 1902, in Salt Lake City, a daughter of Bryant Stringham and Christine Johnson Hinckley.She married Tracy Young Cannon April 19, 1943, in the Salt Lake Temple. He died Nov. 6, 1961.

Mrs. Cannon was an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple and was secretary of the Church Music Committee and a secretary at the McCune School of Music and Art.

She served as president of her ward Relief Society and for many years was a member of the Young Women's Mutual Improvement Association General Board, now known as the Young Women program.

Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday, Sept. 5, in the Colonial Hills 2nd Ward chapel, 1455 S. 1700 East. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, and from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
