FERRON WOMAN STRESSES PATRIOTISM AFTER INSTALLATION AS PRESIDENT OF AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY OF UTAH

A Ferron woman has been elected president of the American Legion Auxiliary of Utah.

Dixie Swasey was installed as president recently."I feel that now, more than ever, we need to show patriotism and promote patriotism in our organization, as well as educate others in our communities and schools," Swasey said.

Swasey noted the American Legion Auxiliary has nearly 1 million members and is the largest women's patriotic organization in the world.

Swasey, who is also serving as the Emery County recorder, plans to help with Habitat for Humanity as her president's project.

Active with the Emery County Museum Board and the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Swasey has also been a counselor at Girls State and is a member of the Citizens Flag Alliance.

In ALA, she has served as foreign relations chairwoman, education chairwoman, first and second vice-president and District 5 president.
