The 25th demolition derby will kick off Sevier County's fair Saturday, Aug. 5, but most events are scheduled next week in conjunction with the Southern Utah Junior Livestock Show.

The fair's centennial production of "Carousel" will be one of the highlights Aug. 10, 11 and 12, on the midway stage at the fair-grounds in Richfield. Performances will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, 1 and 6 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday, directed by Loni Baker and produced by Trish Bumgardner.Most entertainment events will be in Richfield. But one major event will be at the Blackhawk Arena in Salina, a performance by Martina McBride at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8. She won the TNN/Music City News Video of the Year Award.

Among other entertainment highlights will be horse pulls at 7 p.m. and Miss Teen Sevier contest at 8 p.m. Aug. 9; magic show at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 10; Mr. Sevier contest at 4 p.m., an ATV rodeo at 7 p.m. and a country sing-a-long at 8 p.m. Aug. 11; and rodeo at 7 p.m., followed by a Western dance Aug. 12.

Exhibit buildings will open Wednesday, Aug. 9, and remain open until 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12.

Livestock judging and fitting and showmanship contests will be held Wednesday, Aug. 9. On Aug. 10, market hogs will be judged at 8 a.m., market lambs at 10 a.m., market beef at 1 p.m. and breeding beef at 2 p.m. The show will climax with the annual auction at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11.
